This whisky is an excellent value in my opinion. The port influence is clear with lots of red fruit notes without being syrupy or anything like that and the base malt spirit still shines through, and it's not chill filtered so it has an excellent mouthfeel. If you're a fan of whisky with heavy port or sherry influence, this is about the best regularly available unpeated offering out there.
Sweet on the nose a very floral note of roses, deep oranges and mint. Very smooth body that lets you know it’s ruby port finished. This is a sweet malt with ZERO peat. Finish is just as smooth with notes of dark currant, mint and oranges. There is no hot or hard spice notes in this 14yr, it is a little phenolic at bottle proof, but a rock or few Drops of water really opens its up. Not an overly complex whiskey, but a good midrange/starter or as an everyday sipper.
